Every time you walk into a room, you have an
opportunity to set the tone. The question is, what
kind of tone do you set? There are three approaches in life: LEANER, LOOKER or LEADER.

The LEANER usually take the easy way out. They do just enough to get by. Leaners ignore others who try to help and refuse to get involved. Sound familiar? Do you know anyone like this?

The LOOKER represents most people. They have their eyes wide open looking at all their options. The looker is not too negative or too positive. They put in the standard effort. Lookers usually wait for others to take charge and then decide if they are going to get involved. For lookers, life is usually stuck in neutral. They can be influenced if a strong case is presented to them.

The LEADER engages others. Like the legs
illustration, leaders are constantly moving and looking for ways to improve their lives and the lives of others. They follow a “whatever it takes” approach. Leaders go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure success. By constantly stretching to become their best they inspire others to do the same. It all boils down to your approach. Take any class in school as an example. The class can be very boring for the leaner but very worthwhile for the leader.

The cool thing is we can choose our approach: Leaner, Looker or Leader. We can change our approach any time. The next time you walk into a room ask yourself, “what’s my approach going to be?” You don’t always have to be the leader. Maybe you’re the looker and let others lead. The key thing to remember is to check your approach. Remember, you set the tone every time you walk into the room. Others watch your response to various situations. Challenge yourself to make your approach help you and others succeed!
